I don't consider myself a materialistic person. After all, my mother grew up in India and raised us to be socially and environmentally conscious. But everyone has a weakness, and mine has been for BMWs. I've never actually bought one, and probably never would. I've always been able to think of better things to do with my money. Now I don't have to feel so guilty dreaming…meet the BMW Hydrogen 7.

According to BMW, hydrogen is the "fuel of the future." And I for one can't wait for the future to arrive. The Hydrogen 7 http://www.bmw.com/com/en/index_highend.html will be able to switch from gasoline to hydrogen, which only releases water vapor into the atmosphere (and no carbon dioxide or other pollutants). Get a sneak preview in November at the Los Angeles Car Show. And if you like what you see, the BMW Hydrogen 7 will hit the market in April 2008.

Only a few hundred will be built in the beginning. And because there's such a limited run, not all locations, or even states, will carry this unique car (California is a good bet though). Besides the limited run, other obstacles are obviously the high price and finding a place to fill up on hydrogen. After all, it's not like your local gas station has a hydrogen tank right next to the gas. Right now you'll find very few hydrogen filling stations. But luckily, with supply comes demand so once the hydrogen cars actually make it to the marketplace, you can bet that fuel stations will be popping up all over the place.
