Finding the ideal balm is like finding true love. You buy them everywhere you go, in pots and sticks, flavored and unflavored, hoping for the miracle balm that will finally quench your parched, dry lips. But the only thing you've ended up with is a pile of balms, and not one that you'd purchase again.

Well I'm not ashamed to admit that I've fallen for one, and it may even become a life long relationship. What I love about Balm Balm, new to Saffron Rouge (which comes in both Fragrance Free and Rose Geranium versions for lips and face) is, of course, the organic quality. If it's not organic, it's not touching my mouth, and Balm Balm's products are certified organic by the UK's Soil Association. The Rose Geranium Face Balm was even awarded them 'Best Organic Beauty Product' this year for 2007. Unlike most balms, they're 100% organic, and 100% natural with no petroleum. So they lovingly soaks into your skin, allowing the Shea Butter and Sunflower, Calendula and Jojoba oils to get to work softening and moisturizing the skin. Because they're all-natural, the balm may feel slightly grainy when first applied, but in seconds it melts away, leaving only luscious, nourished skin behind.

The other reason I love it? It's just as multi-tasking as I am. Both the face and the lip versions, regardless of what the name actually implies, can be used practically everywhere your skin needs moisture. You can smooth them on your cuticles, heels, elbows, cheeks, etc. Or use them to condition lashes, sooth diaper rash or baby's cradle cap (the fragrance free formula only) and tame unruly eyebrows. You can even become a balm-blending enthusiast when you take the Fragrance Free balms, melt them in the microwave for 60 seconds and add your favorite essential oil or food flavoring. Then you just stick the softened balm in the fridge to harden. If you're suffering from congestion, add a drop of eucalyptus to the balm. Or flavor your balm with your favorite flower essential oil to create a perfume you can dab on everywhere. I also like using food flavoring, such as vanilla or lemon extract to create a delicious balm in a matter of seconds. After all, no one every said you were cookie cutter. So why should your balm be?
