Why is it important to use a facial toner? What do they actually do for my skin?
Facial toners firm and help hydrate skin while helping close pores. The toners on Saffron Rouge contain nurturing plant extracts to maintain healthy balance within the skin. The 100% natural ingredients are non-drying because they are formulated with plant-based alcohols, not drying Isopropyl alcohol. In fact they actual add moisture rather than taking it out.
When should I tone my skin?
To help keep your skin hydrated, we recommend using a facial toner at least twice a day – morning and night after washing your face. Feel free to mist your toner throughout the day as needed to refresh and hydrate. Because airplanes are so drying, it’s great to take a small (airline-approved sized) toner on board your flight to keep your skin moisturized.
Why do most toners contain alcohol and isn't that drying to my skin?
Yes and no. Isopropyl alcohol from petroleum is drying to the skin. But you won’t find this ingredient in any products on Saffron Rouge. Instead we feature products that use gentle plant alcohols – like the food-grade ethyl alcohol (ethanol) that comes from grains, fruits or vegetables. These plant alcohols are used to extract herbs and flowers and also acts as a natural emulsifier (mix oil and water) and preservative. They sometimes can be drying, but only when more than 15% of the formula is made with them –which is very rare and not the case with most Saffron Rouge toners.
Are some facial toners more therapeutic than others?
Yes. Some toners hydrate the skin and others provide additional plant nutrients, minerals, liquid vitamins, precious gems or nutrient-rich metals as well. This is the case with the Dr.Hauschka Rhythmic Conditioners and Intensive Treatment Sprays. It’s recommended that you use them for 28 days during seasonal changes or during periods of stress.
