A quick note about alcohol

Many of you ask about the inclusion of alcohol in a variety of products (especially toners), so I'd like to address it.

Why is alcohol included and what does it do? First of all, this particular alcohol is not bad for your skin under a certain percentage. It is not the same alcohol sold in drugstores and used in many other cosmetic products. It's derived from plants (fermented fruits, potatoes or grains) and is a food quality alcohol. The alcohol is denatured (rendered distasteful for drinking purposes) by pure essential oils from herbs and flowers.

Alcohol is used for its extractive and preservative properties. It serves as an extracting agent for herbal extracts, a carrier for ingredients, and as a mild antiseptic. The percentage of alcohol in the natural beauty products on Saffron Rouge is very low, and it is neither drying nor harmful in any way. Instead, this type of alcohol is beneficial and carries the active plant extracts into the skin and acts as an emulsifier, a stabilizer, and a preservative within the product.
