From Asia to Victoria's England

The ylang ylang tree is indigenous to the lush tropical forests of Asia. The large trees produce yellow blossoms with a potent floral fragrance. In the Malayan language, ylang ylang means 'flower of flowers'.

Asian women have relied on ylang ylang for centuries as an aphrodisiac. Indonesian newlyweds traditionally place ylang ylang on the marriage bed and woman throughout Asia use the rich oil to maintain long, healthy, shiny hair, which comes in handy when attracting the opposite sex.

But the allure of ylang ylang is not limited to the tropics. During the reign of England's Queen Victoria, ylang ylang was an ingredient in the famed Macassar hair oil that promoted hair growth through scalp stimulation.

Today, ylang ylang is used in massage oils, floral perfumes and baths. Additionally, it acts as an antidepressant and antiseptic.

Dry Skin Facial Treatment

Softens and moisturizes dry, flaky skin
10 ml avocado oil
5 ml evening primrose oil
5 ml jojoba oil
1 drop vetiver
2 drops ylang ylang
2 drops orange
Can be used daily in severe cases of dry skin.

Facial Massage Oil

Smoothes facial skin and soothes muscles
20 ml jojoba oil
8 drops orange
2 drops ylang ylang
Use whenever you feel it's necessary.

Balancing Massage

Helps regulate hormonal imbalances
for 50ml jojoba oil
5 drops rose geranium
5 drops clary sage
5 drops sandalwood
5 drops ylang ylang
5 drops bergamot
For daily use against PMS, after pregnancy.

Sensual Evening Bath

3 drops sandalwood
2 drops ylang ylang
1 drop jasmine
3 drops orange
Mix with 4-8 tbsp of an emulsifier such as base oil or heavy cream.
